The other day I was scrolling through Facebook and up popped an ad from Gap with a super cute sweatshirt - you know, a great color and awesome cut - the not-your-typical-sweatshirt sweatshirt.
I clicked thru to the site, read the reviews and decided I needed this sweatshirt. Now. Not in 3-5 business days, today. And that's when I noticed a new feature on the Gap site - Reserve in Store.
I could choose the color, size and number - and after a search to see if it was available in my area, (it was! yay!) even during the holiday rush, they would pull the items and reserve them under my name until closing the following business day. Then I just ran in, grabbed my sweatshirt in two different sizes, hit the dressing room and was out of the store and into my top in 10 minutes flat.
So I got to thinking, what else might this service be good for? That day when you NEED an outfit to wear out that night, but you don't have a ton of time to shop - you pick out the items you'd like online, reserve them and just pop in to look fabulous for your big event. Or, if you need to grab a gift very quickly between errands and work, this is a perfect option. And it's available not just at Gap, but also at Banana Republic. I'd love more stores to adopt this practice, and I know I'll be using it again soon!
